A little about me…

I have been teaching since the early 2000's, teaching predominantly Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, and Biology at High Schools and Colleges in multiple states. Along with teaching, I have been privileged to work in Sports Medicine as a Physical Therapist, a Strength and Conditioning Coach and an Athletic Trainer since the late 1990's. And have been honored to educate and train over 200 currently practicing health professionals working across the country in various medical fields.

My education includes an undergraduate education in Biology (Physiology/Pre-Medical emphasis) and Psychology with a graduate education in Physical Therapy, Education, Integrative and Evolutionary Biology, Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology, and Health Science Education.

My research and publication history has focused on the issues of overfatness and health. Looking at the roles that diet and various forms of exercise have in reversing health issues for individuals who are overfat, aspects of endocrinology and the means by which exercise leads to improvements in human performance. This focus has branched out looking into how effective dietary supplements are for improving body composition and overall health, along with aspects of public health and health education related to the issue of coercion in lifestyle treatments of non-communicable disease, and issues related to bias in suggestions and recommendations of diet and exercise for being healthy. As of summer 2023, I am proud to say that I have been able to publish (with a number of co-authors) over 25 peer-reviewed publication and over 40 total publications.

Over the last few years, I have become more active in focusing research activities and projects based on proposals that students indicated interest in related to topics on healthy lifestyles. While remaining active in the world of sports medicine through consultations with a number of athletic programs and individual athletes; assisting with the development of exercise programs for conditioning along with the recovery and prevention of sports related injuries.

Along with the research and teaching, I have been on working with colleagues around the country on curriculum development for anatomy and physiology education.
